Median jacaranda tree ~

Lake Avenue jacaranda, May 16, 2016

Pretty jacaranda tree growing in the median of Pasadena’s South Lake Avenue with a tree spiraled with lights in the foreground. According to this site here, the name jacaranda comes from the Guarani language (a language of Paraguay), in which it means “fragrant.” But it also makes a person think of the Latin verb jacere, to cast, toss, scatter … (whence English “eject”), which the jacaranda tree definitely does with its blossoms!
