Another day …

Verbena Lilacina “De la Mina,” February 22 2016

Another day … another pretty flowers blog post! Here we have a species of verbena: Verbena Lilacina. This very informative nursery site here explains that “lilacina” means lilac-colored, so it’s lilac-colored verbena (as you can see!). The nursery site also explains that this plant was imported from the Canyon de la Mina on Cedros Island, which is off the coast of Baja California. Even though Baja California is not technically in California, its native plants are still considered a California natives. (Hence this plant’s presence in the Huntington’s “California garden”!)
